DETAILS
Critica is an educational platform for modern museums to express personalized critical histories more effectively using emerging technology. It is a third-party application that extends and fosters a network, reducing the costs of developing and producing interactive exhibits. According to the 2022 Annual Survey of Museum-Goers, in an ideal museum experience, 91% of museum visitors selected that they want or do not mind being challenged with content that shares different viewpoints or with complex content about the past or issues today while only 9% of museum visitors listed that they would not want to be challenged at all. This project rethinks how we tell these unrepresented stories in museums to make them more engaging and representative of communities inside and outside a museum. As an example of critical history, feminism in Italy during the 1970s was pivotal in Italian history. Yet, despite the significance of this movement, it has received little attention compared to other feminist movements, such as the women’s liberation movement in the U.S. By highlighting this chapter in Italy’s history, we can shed light on the struggles and achievements of women who paved the way for future generations.
