This project was about proposing a new brand and flagship product/product system for a niche market of customers. I decided to create a toothbrush product geared towards young children hypersensitive to brushing their teeth such as children with autism. If you’re a parent of a child with Autism Spectrum disorder (ASD), brushing your child’s teeth can be a battle so I wanted to ensure that my product can deliver a more effortless brushing experience. Therefore, I included aspects such as a friendly appearance, a broader handle that helps children who struggle with motor skills, and sensitive cleaning modes.

E.Z BRUSH™ an Innovative Toothbrush That Inspires Children with Autism to Brush Their Teeth
CARE4ALL™, a manufacturer of dental care products for both adults and children, has just announced and released their new E.Z Brush™. E.Z Brush is a friendly toothbrush that is both an enjoyable and effective way to help young children, such as those with autism spectrum disorder and who are hypersensitive to brushing their teeth, find comfort in brushing. The product’s wide rubber grip helps children who struggle with motor skills hold on to their toothbrushes tight. The head of the toothbrush is also detachable in case parents want to replace it with softer or silicone-type bristles, helping their children build a tolerance to brushing. Moreover, the product has two simple buttons, a minus and a plus button that act as cleaning modes. When the E.Z brush is turned on, it is automatically set to the lowest brushing mode and if a child chooses to, they can increase the cleaning mode slowly with the plus button. Many other electric toothbrushes on the market only have a fast cleaning mode but E.Z Brush’s technology ensures that it will not trigger or irritate sensitive gums or teeth. In addition to this, the body of the toothbrush is made from a smooth plastic material that won’t overstimulate the mouth. Alice Thompson, a dental hygienist at Aspen Dental, says “I have encouraged many of my clients, who are parents, to use E.Z Brush for their children who face problems brushing their teeth and it has worked wonders”.
