DETAILS
During my winter break, I stumbled upon a 2021 Student Design Award Contest hosted by Penguin Publishing Group. The contest involved choosing between non-fiction, fiction, or children’s book and creating a real book cover design based on the selected story. I chose to do my cover on The Uninhabitable Earth by David Wallace-Wells because I was inspired by his depiction of climate change and its disastrous effects. Therefore, I wanted my book cover to illustrate the impending and tense nature of his words. I interpreted his text as a continuous domino chain of negative climate change causes culminating in a disaster unless acted upon.
